IIn 1990 Denzel Washington & Wesley Snipes starred in a Spike Lee directed movie about jazz trumpeter Bleek Gilliam The film focuses on themes of friendship, loyalty, honesty, cause-and-effect, and ultimately salvation. It features the music of the Branford Marsalis quartet with Terence Blanchard on trumpet, who also plays for the Bleek Gilliam character. Spike Lee's father, Bill, wrote the title song that our quartet played yesterday, no rehearsal:
