Kiss me, kiss me a lot
as if this night was
the last time.
Kiss me, kiss me a lot
for I fear losing you,
losing you afterwards.
Kiss me, kiss me a lot
as if this night was
the last time.
Kiss me, kiss me a lot
for I fear losing you,
losing you afterwards.
I want to feel you very close,
to see myself in your eyes,
to see you next to me.
Think that perhaps tomorrow,
I will already be far,
very far away from you.
"Besame Mucho" was written by Mexican songbird-pianist Consuelo Velazquez in 1940 and occupies a high place in Latin music.
Usually translated "Kiss me a lot" it adds 'as if tonight was the last time.'
Recorded in 1944 by the Jimmy Dorsey band, the Beatles released it for a Decca audition in 1962. It's airing during WW 2 coincided with many men going off to war, leaving lovers behind with a final kiss. Last Wednesday the trio gave it a go. here:
