Six String Jazz - Just Friends.mp3

Just friends, lovers no more
Just friends, but not like before
To think of what we've been and not to kiss again
Seems like pretending it isn't the ending

Two friends drifting apart
Two friends, but one broken heart
We loved, we laughed, we cried, and suddenly love died
The story ends and we're just friends

Two friends drifting apart
Two friends, but one broken heart
We loved, we laughed, we cried, and suddenly love died
The story ends and we're just friends

"Just Friends" was written in 1931 by John Klenner with lyrics by Sam M. Lewis. It took awhile for it to catch the imagination of jazz musicians but it soon became part of the repertoire. Performed by such stalwarts as Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughn, Charlie Parker, Joe Pass, and Amy Winehouse, it became a Hollywood romcom in 2005 with Ryan Reynolds. The trio had not previously played it but decided to give it a go. It's a story of unrequited love.
