How Insensitive (Insensatez)

How Insensitive
I must have seemed
When she told me that she loved me
How unmoved and cold
I must have seemed
When she told me so sincerely
Why she must have asked
Why she must have asked
Did I just turn and stare in icy silence
What was I to say
What can you say when a love affair is over

Now she's gone away
And I'm alone with the memory of her last look
Vague and drawn and sad
I see it still
All her heartbreak in that last look
Why she must have asked
Did I just stare in icy silence
Ah, porque você
Foi fraco assim
Assim tão desalmado

What was I to do
What can one do when a love affair is over

"How Insensitive" is a bossa produced in 1964 with Portugese lyrics soon translated into English. The Bossa Nova was introduced to North America by Brazilian Antonio Carlos Jobim, who gave us the famous "Girl From Ipanema."

This tune is about a man who foolishly ignores a woman's expression of love by turning away in icy silence. His rationale is that their love affair is over, yet he lacks the cahones to be honest with the lady.

Early this week the trio gave it a shot that you can hear below.

Ian Saylor, piano
Rob Stiteler, drums
Wayne Renardson, bass
