Jazz Dogs Quartet - Black Orpheus.mp3

Last Friday (July 29th) the quartet was working up some new tunes when Mesa broke into "Black Orpheus," one of the best known tunes favored by jazz and bossa music lovers.

Written in 1959 by Brazilians Louis Bonfi & Antonio Jobim for the movie of the same name, the music helped introduce bossa nova to the US. It won at the Cannes Film Festival that year.

The players:

Mesa Schubeck, piano
Don Fishel, flute
Doug Frame, drums
Wayne Renardson, fretless bass
